Discover the Lido of Venice

Lido of Venice

VENETIAN LAGOON – WWF Oasis – Alberoni

You can reach the WWF Oasis on the Alberoni dunes starting directly from Camping San Nicolò located at the extreme tip of Lido di Venezia overlooking Punta Sabbioni and where comfortable bicycles can be rented.

The naturalistic area of about 160 hectares is located on the Lido of Venice in the Alberoni area included in a Special Protection area (IT3250023) based on the “Habitats” and “Birds” directive. A wide beach characterized by “white dunes” colonized by Ammophila littoralis and “grey dunes” with arid spaces and green carpets of moss with different types of flora and fauna typical of the upper Adriatic coasts where the Plover still nests, often camouflaged among the plants pioneer.

It starts from the campsite and along the seafront, after the Palazzo della Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica, you go up to the cycle-pedestrian section of the Murazzi built by the Serenissima. A very suggestive stretch that looks to the sea on the left and after about 3 km you can go down to the right and reach the ancient edge of Malamocco where you can “cicchettato” in the classic “osterie” present.

Go up and continue for another 3 km until you reach the WWF Oasis on a path dedicated only to pedestrians and bicycles. To conclude, one can continue and reach the extreme point of the Lido, Alberoni dam which looks to the right on the mouth of the port of Malamocco where the recent defense structure of Venice is located, the Mose and which is placed before the island of: Santa Maria del Sea – San Piero in Volta – Pellestrina.

The approximately 160-hectare area is managed by WWF Venice and the Territory through a Management Committee, in agreement with the Municipality of Venice and the Metropolitan City. The pine forest area is managed by the Regional Forestry Services.
