Cycling among the Venetian Villas of the Brenta Riviera

A full day dedicated to discovering the artistic jewels of the Brenta Riviera, pedaling along the river that connects Venice to Padua, Urbs Picta, recently declared a Unesco World Heritage site!

The banks of the Brenta river are dotted with precious residences dating back to the era of the splendor of the Republic of Venice, when the verdant countryside was the favorite destination,for Venetian nobles,to spend their summer holidays.

Places that evoke the magnificence of past centuries, places that have seen unique festivals and cultural gatherings, houses that have hosted famous people and that have hidden unmentionable loves.

Our local guide, by bicycle, will accompany you through the places of the Riviera del Brenta, passing through Oriago where the local market has been held for centuries, reaching Mira to admire remarkable architectural testimonies, including Villa Villa Valier called “the Guitar”, Villa Contarini dei Leoni curiously linked to the sale of its frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo and you will admire the residence chosen by Lord Byron. The bike tour then continues to Dolo, the ancient port and commercial hub of the Brenta Riviera, where you can still see the ancient Squero, the 16th century mills immortalized by Canaletto in his famous painting. You will stop on the island of Maltempo, the original part of the village and then continue to Stra’ to admire Villa Pisani, the well-known national museum and then visit the Shoe Museum, a precious treasure chest kept in Villa Foscarini Rossi. The obligatory gastronomic stop is the Osteria del Baccala’ also in Stra’. On the way back we will follow the banks of the Serraglio, surrounded by the charming Venetian countryside.
